LATEST PROJECT: Logo Designs For Magician & Entertainer
I was asked to create a logo for local magician and entertainer “Terry Hedges”. The following designs are a couple of the concepts I came up with so far. This project is still a work in progress. In the bottom logo can you see the top-hat formed from the letter H?
I was asked to create a promotional flyer design for a new energy drink. The client wanted a professional design that would mainly target 18-35 yr old males. We decided on going the route of showing the drink’s energy by making the can electrified. I wanted to keep the design simple and eye catching.
I created this “statue of liberty” entirely in vector using Adobe Illustrator. For those not familiar with vector art, it is much different than painting with a brush. Instead, designs are constructed through combining filled shapes of various color. For those familiar with vector art, you know how tedious it can be. The great thing [...]
I was asked to create a larger banner design for “Christian Life Church” of Murfreesboro, Tn. The banner was needed to promote some upcoming children events being held. The client wanted the design to be colorful, easy to read, and feature kids playing a common activity.
The time I was given to work on this project [...]
This skull design was created for a t-shirt. To see the art on a shirt, view the “Large Image”. I created this piece in “vector” format using Adobe Illustrator. For those unfamiliar with vector art, it is created in a much different fashion than sketching with a pencil or painting with a brush. It’s more [...]
This is the logo I created for my old graphic design website and company name “GetYourGraphics.com”. I still like the design, so I thought I would showcase it here in my portfolio. I think the design works for a few reasons. I wanted something bold and not too elegant, and I think it achieves that. [...]
This painting was my first attempt at using my Wacom drawing tablet. Total time spent was about 15 hours. Please don’t get offended by the nudity; it’s just art.
I created a “how to digitally paint” tutorial if you are interested in seeing my creative process and possibly creating your own.
I created this logo for PilotJourney.com, an online company who provides information and resources for pilots. This particular design was mainly intended for some new publications they were having printed.
For this single concept logo, I was given permission to design freely; which is rare but always exciting. Having a sense of “flight” was necessary for [...]
This image is a combination of original artwork and stock imagery. Basically it started as an original sketch which was scanned and imported into Photoshop. Using a Wacom drawing tablet, I begain adding paint to my drawing; mostly focusing on the creature itself.
The next step involved finding stock images that would work with my scene. [...]
This logo design was created for a new online gift and retail shop called ‘The Giftogram”. The business owner wanted something stylish and classy, but without being too overly feminine. This design is one of a few that were considered.
After a lot of searching, I found a font called “Buffet Script” that seemed to work [...]
I submitted a couple of different concepts to “Sure Fire Music” (Nashville based songwriting and recording studio). The design they chose, turned out to be my least favorite of the bunch. Instead I have decided to showcase two of the reject designs, because I thought they were better, and more worthy portfolio pieces. Please let [...]
This design was one of a few logo concepts I came up with for “Sure Fire Music” of Nashville, TN. The company initially wanted me to just clean up their decades old hand drawn design (vectorize it). I talked them into having me come up with some new, more modern designs as well.
Sure Fire Music [...]
If you work in the art world or as a graphic designer, there comes times when a design, drawing, etc doesn’t turn out as expected. Rather than just trashing the creation all together, I personally like to place my “not-so favorite” pieces somewhere in a folder for possible later use. The image above is a [...]
A local company who offers flight training advice to those interested in learning to fly, asked me to design a cover for a new publication. Since the publication was in the design process, they didn’t have anything to show potential advertisers. I created this magazine mockup to simulate a printed product. I also created the [...]
This is a photo montage I created using some basic Photoshop blending techniques and color corrections. The piece along with one other, were published in the 48th issue of “Advanced Photoshop” magazine. If you are a Photoshop user and haven’t read this magazine, I would recommend you check it out. It is full of useful [...]
This vector drawn design was done for “Advanced Property Maintenance” (APM) of Smyrna, Tn. The company does a variety of exterior maintenance work, and they wanted a character to resemble just that. Since the traffic cone reminds people of construction and men at work, we went with a cone man character. If your wondering why [...]
This logo design was the chosen concept for a photography business named “Troy Carter Photography“. Rather than incorporating iconic photography related imagery into the design, we went with this play on lettering. The letters (T,C,P) are intertwined, showing strength and support.
So what are your thoughts on the logo design?
This photo montage was something I created one day playing around with blending modes in Photoshop. I’ve always been a fan of imagery that makes me ask “Is that Photoshopped or real?”.
